Linux Mac interoperability

I have a Macintosh running OSX and a PC running Fedora Core 2. The Fedora system is having problems right now, (not Linux problems) and I need to download a BIOS upgrade to fix it, but it would need to be downloaded on the Mac and burned to a CD in order to get it to the PC. My question is, will that work? Along those lines, just how much interoperability can I expect between these two machines? Is there a book or website that gives advice on this subject? There are alot of things I need both computers for, and I am hoping that once I have them both working right I won't have to pray for success everytime I need them to cooperate with each other. I know it is alot to ask, but it would be so nice to be able to use them that way.
thanks

I don't see why a CD Burned on OS X would operate any differently on Linux than it would on any other operating system. A burned CD is a burned CD.
