Linux m/c home network name

Hi, Hopefully this is a quick and easy one to solve.

On windows I can name my pc so that it can be identified on a network.

i.e kids pc, laptop, sunroom etc etc.

Is there a way to name the pc running linux as at the moment it is identified as 'null'?

This is okay until you have more than one linux machine.

Many Thanks

We currently have a dearth of information. Such as: what distro you are using; how you connect to your network.

Here are a couple of hints:
Code:
man hostname
and making an assumption that you are using DHCP:
Code:
man dhclient.conf
