Page decided that it should be spelled Led (instead of lead, which is the correct english spelling.) He thought that when Americans saw the name, they would pronounce it as Leed Zeppelin, instead of the desired Led Zeppelin.

The lesson here: Americans are stubborn.

Well, do you lead a horse to water, or is the horse lead to water?(so, is the horse leed to water?) He could lead if he would get the lead out.

Back to the topic, it is pronounced linux.
