Linux light to Linux mint


Can I install Linux Mint over Linux Light, if so ,how?

9.2 G free disk space and connected to the internet are the sole 2 'requirements' for installing LM.

Determine the partition(s) on which you have Linux Lite and select format those partitions during the install of Linux Mint to the same partition(s).

If you have a separate /home partition, you could (probably) retain it if you don't format it.

you might actually want to READ the install instructions for mint!

and READ!! the section

It doesn't mention /home.

I've used "native" mint for years, but I mostly use the Debian version of Mint nowadays.
Mint likes to take a "wipe everything install" approach, and then you restore your data from backups back into /home or wherever.

It isn't really necessary.
