Lightbulb linux kernel compilation on Debian

Hi Everyone
Can anyone suggest a better and working tutorial on "compiling linux kernel on Debian"?

The one i had been using is:
http://www.howtoforge.com/kernel_com...debian_etch_p2

But somehow i always get stuck in the last section i-e 3.6 of this tutorial.
The command mkinitrd.yaird -o /boot/initrd.img-2.6.21.3 2.6.21.3
gives an error.

So if you can suggest any other alternative please do so.
I will be really thankful to you.

Regards
