Linux iso install?
 

Ok, i have a .ISO for linux supream supergamer and i dont have a super drive nor the duellayer disks to burn it to or the money to buy them. i have seen lots of ways to install these ISO files without burning them to a cd but im kinda lost on how to do it. i have found some explaining how to do it with ubuntu fedora and so on but i cant find any for this version of linux and im kind of lost. can anyone explain to me how to do this? i have tried the virtual box thing and that wont work so if someone could explain to me how to make that work that would be great too.:confused:

Supreme Supergamer is a live DVD designed to showcase gaming on linux. It is not the sort of distro you install.

If you have another gnu/linux install, you can mount the iso on that. It may be possible to run it from there depending on how the live disk was constructed. Some distros, like knoppix, are built specially for this.

The best practise is just to find someone with the right tools and ask them to burn the iso for you, or purchase the DVD from on-disk like they say.

One option would be to boot from it in a virtual machine as provided by software like VirtualBox which allows a .iso to be loaded to the virtual CD/DVD drive.

If you've had experience with this, then maybe you can help wered get it to boot in virtualbox if you also had more details about how it didn't work?

Not with the same iso but have installed OS this way by configuring CD/DVD-ROM as the first device in the VM's config->System->"Boot Order", starting the VM, using the Devices menu to attach the iso and then using virtual reset to make the virtual BIOS boot from the iso.

Some installs could be performed by network installs. You boot to a minimal floppy or cd and have the system use a network to access the files at some ftp or http server.

This distro does not have an option to install ... at least not so as they mention it on the dev site. Its a puzzle because the games will run better from HDD. The site has no net-install option. The only other approach offered by devs is to order a pre-burned DVD for something like US$35.

Last time I had this problem I took the ISO, on my laptop HDD, to a n internet cafe, and asked them to burn it for me. They obliged, and charged NZ$10 for a single-sided DVD. That's something like US$5-ish.

Similarly, there is usually someone around prepared to help out.
You just have to ask - the community is pretty friendly: local LUG? Dunno where wered is, so cannot advise on who to ask.

well i got it on my hard drive useing fusbi, and it works for the most part. has a few driver issues but thats an easy fix. and i tryed the virtual box earlier before i posted this thread but it kept saying that PAE (physical address extension) was not enabled when it was so i gave up on trying to use that.
