linux is pissing me off....
I opened /home and clicked the decrease ison size button on the toolbar and then konquerer crashed... now i cant open or even get into /home directory....
Why does linux have to crash so much? It's supposibly more stable... but everytime i sneeze i get an error or a crash that wont go away... |
Well you could start out by figuring out the difference between "linux" and "konquerer".
Linux is the kernel at the heart of everything. Linux, does not crash. At least not in any concievable sense. Programs running on linux may crash, but that is why you simply use a different and more stable program. If kde crashes, use gnome. If gnome crashes, use enlightenment. Simple as that. |

log in as a user, open up a console window, voila home weet home :-) (usually)

KDE is slow, sluggish, crashes.. I use it to show off eyecandy to my friends but Fluxbox and Blackbox are my choices as lightweight desktop managers.
Gnome is a great idea tho if you need n00bish talk :) since you can easily switch Managers on Mandrake |

No reason to think this would help, but it wont hurt. Try updating your menus.
Also you can create a new shortcut on your desktop to konqueror and name it "HOME" and even choose the original "home " icon to go with it. Continued gratitude to all those who help us newbies |
I like flux for both eyecandy and for usability
Sometimes I do use kde, but some of the new features of flux are making it by far my primary desktop lately |

Cannot offer any advise as I am a linux virgin. However the more i use it the more i tend to like it...some very lovely features and some bloody things that drive me insane. However it has great support and i find that linux questions is the place to find the answers to get things happening. It is rare to see it crash...often applications fall over but the OS is always there in the background, try Ctrl + Alt + F5 and you can log in and kill unresponsive apps. Remember, many things for the penguin are in constant development and most of the support is from nerds that just like to play and help each other out...not like Microsoft where they are only concerned with your wallet, (try $60 an hour for support!!). Take your time and read the forums and the FAQ's.....remember when you first used windows (or DOS if your older) it was pretty scarry but now is second nature.

Konqueror is &*%( .Didn't have anytrouble with it lately but i am sure it will pop up again.It is generally a good idea to get rid of the previews for files if you got problems with it.Other than that I just always keep rox around.If you try to open a directory with about 40000 files in it with konq it will fall apart anyway.Flux won't help you much if you still use konq as a file manager within it - it's only a windows manager.
