Here is the top 3 reasons, I think Linux is bad:
1- Hard.
2- NVIDIA drivers.
3- I don't know how to write shell scripts.
My friend told me that I don't need to, the community is very helpful.
So I thought I should test them and see if they can help me finish my simple shell homework.
Sorry for the bait. I will switch to Linux if I get help, but you probably don't care.
Hopefully there is a weirdo who will think this is fun.

How do you think a thread with that title will go down on a Linux forum? Seriously, how bored would I have to be to go to a Windows forum to tell them how bad Windows is.
The problem with the "friendly community" is that this line has been touted and actively taken advantage of for decades, so most people won't bother until you show them that you're serious. Show them, not just tell them!
We also have a policy regarding homework, you might want to read the rules anyhow. The standing, accepted practice is to show us what you tried and exactly where & how you got stuck, and not just asking us to do your homework for you.
Seems your own behaviour predicted the outcome of your little test? Talk about self-fulfilling reverse prophecy.
A line like "Sorry for the bait. I will switch to Linux if I get help, but you probably don't care" makes me think you're probably better off where you are.
BTW, I do think this is funny otherwise I wouldn't have replied at all.
Hopefully there is a weirdo who will think this is fun.
I don't see how insulting people you are asking for help is going to make them more enthusiastic about helping you. I would suggest that you try reaching out to your professor for help if you don't understand something in class and need help understanding the concepts.
There are a ton of things I don't like about windows but that doesn't mean I log in to a windows forum and post that "Windows is bad... blah blah blah". You should use whatever OS you are comfortable with, the best part about Linux is that it gives the the choice of something different, it might not be for everyone but the choice is there (My wife uses windows because that is what she is comfortable with and that is perfectly ok.)
Actually the forum advice is that we ask the poster to not post the questions verbatim, and also tell us what they have tried and where they're stuck.

Welcome to LQ,
Your friend ill advised you.
If you have shell script homework it is your responsibility to complete it.
What have you tried and where are you stuck?
Not intending to be rude, but please do realize that it is nonrelevant to others whether you ever decide to switch to Linux. If you choose to and request help while not patronizing people, you'll most likely get the help you need.

So:
No, it isn't
nVidia cards are supported by nVidia and open source drivers so they are very much available
You not knowing something isn't a problem of Linux; you don't blame a car because you don't know how to drive.

The community is helpful, but you seem to have put more effort into trying to get someone else to do your homework for you, than into actually doing it yourself. We aren't going to do your homework for you (and if you bothered to check the LQ Rules and "Question Guidelines" you'd see that), but we will help you if you're stuck.
Why isn't your 'friend' helping you???

We don't care if you switch to Linux at all; why would we? We don't need people who treat the forums like a help-desk and ask for handouts.
1. Linux is hard. Linux runs on my computer which lives in a tower, hard case. Otherwise it is not that hard me thinks.
2. NVIDIA drivers. Some distributions have applications where you only need to press some buttons a couple of times. On the Debian system I use, it requires 2-3 lines. Is it that hard?
3. I don't either I just started learning. That is not a requirement of running a Linux based system. However you seem to be able to use a keyboard.
If you want advice on what to do, kindly provide your basic hardware specifications, your experience on Linux if any, and some volunteers will tell you which distributions to try as a beginner.
