Linux installation questions

Hello reader,

I have a 20 gigs hd and have partitioned it in such way I can have both windows and mandrake linux running.

When I install a new operation system of windows xp on a new partition, then lilo boot manager is not present any more. So, I have to install linux once again.

If you have any suggestions to avoid this, please share it in this thread.

Thank you for the support,

Roland

Windows only overwrites the MBR, not the whole Linux OS. If you have to reinstall Windows, afterwards just use a boot disk or the cdrom to boot up into Linux and reinstall/repair your boot loader, etc. No reason ever to reinstall Linux, that's always a last means solution.

I was thinking of doing that, but needed to be sure of it.

Thanks for the reply,
