Linux install on Aspire 1353LM freezes...
Hello,
I m a newbie and I wanted to install Linux on my laptop as second operating system. But I can't!!! I’ve tried to install SUSE 9.1 personal, worked till the end and then when i change my monitor settings it froze never to work again (boot, reinstall or anything).   :( I ve tried the last Fendora edition, when i chose a screen it froze too... Ok I’ve found out that the screen should be left to vesa 1024*768, but now I can’t even try and reinstall... when the installation begins when starting the X server it freezes... How can I install linux? Any ideas? Is it even possible on this laptop? :Pengy:  :( |
woah dude.... sounds like you have either:
a.) bad memory b.) fried/corrupt memory on video device c.) corrupt video device from misconfiguration OR d.) bad monitor causing the system to freeze when X probes it hope this helps!!! :Pengy: |
But the laptop works perfectly under XP,
No problem what so ever, (watch DVDs, play games, work on photoshop CS) the whole 9 yards. No problem. Just linux does not like something... Any suggestions? |
are you doing a laptop install or a workstation install... also, do you have the desktop or server distro. version ?
:Pengy: |
It was the ACPI that was freezing the mashine. Linux obviously did not have a good support of the ACPI and was freezing the mashine. Once i did the instalation with out the ACPI activated it worked fine.
