Linux instalation

I want to install Linux Red hat 7.1 on my system along with windows 98.
I am getting problem in that
I have Hard/D – 40GB of this I allotted
(10 GB partition for Win-98 C (Which I do not want to delete)
(30 GB as Extended partition of (D:10 GB, E: 10 GB, F: 10GB)(I can delete any of these partition for linux). What will be the procedure to install linux, I mean starting from partitioning, because when I deleted 30 GB partition with dos fdisk for linux and tried to install linux, I stuck to Installation, because it says insufficient disk space for automatic partition and gave me option to use Fdisk/ Drued to manually allocate the partition which I don’t know how to.
Please help me
Bye
Vivek

It sounds to me like you didn't delete your 30GB extended partition.

Using DOS FDISK delete all your logical partitions (d,e,f drives) that are residing in your extended partition and then delete the extended partition itself. Once this is completed, you should be able to install linux in the free space.

I had a problem once because I kept trying to delete the extended partition before the logical partitions. That didn't seem to work.

Hope this helps. Anyone please let me know if any of this was wrong. Thanks.

No,
I deleted the extendes partion but before that i first deleted 3 logical driver otherwise fdisk will not delete extended partition.
i may think first partition of 10 GB may be the cause.

bye

Are you sure that the diskdruid isn't just bitching that it wants a /boot partition within the first 1024 cylinders? I had that with RH7.1.
