Linux hangs at ACPI: PCI Root Bridge [PCI0] (0000:00)

Hi,

I have just built my own kernel with ACPI enabled, and tried booting it in a few systems. Some work, but 2 of them(a HP and a Dell desktop) hang at the line:
Code:

ACPI: PCI Root Bridge [PCI0] (0000:00)
I've tried disabling ACPI by adding append=noacpi into my lilo.conf, but that doesn't seem to help. I still get the message. Is there some other kernel parameter I'm missing in lilo.conf?

OK, I think it was a typo on my part earlier on. It seems to work now. I'm able to get the kernel working with the HP desktop.

However, is there any way of the kernel finding out by itself if the system it's booting up from is ACPI complaint? I don't really want to disable ACPI if the PC hardware supports it.

In the first place I don't know why the HP desktop would not be ACPI compliant, it's a pretty new PC. It should be ACPI compliant...
