Linux graphical login problem

We have linux 7.3. To try and free some space we deleted some directories. Previously we had the xdmcp menu through which we used to select the local server(or any other). On selecting the local server the graphical login window used to come up. But now after this deletion of directories and files only the command line appears After logging in on command line we have to use startx to go into X windows mode. How do I atleast get back the graphical login window if not the xdmcp menu itself ?

You can edit your /etc/inittab and change it to

id:5:initdefault:

This will make you able to login in a graphical mode rather than shell.
