Linux gateway/router in virtualbox

Hello here,
I would like to setup a linux gateway for my homenetwork(LAN),i would like all traffic to go through the linuxbox,so i can hopefully do iptables, and log all traffic too. I have a couple of tablets,a desktop and a laptop in my home LAN.
I presently run windows 7 and before i migrate to linux fully,i am trying to simulate my network in virtualbox first.
I have installed Debian linux,windows7and Xp as guest OS's in virtualbox, the question at the moment is for traffic from xp and and windows 7 to go through the debian linux guest, what type of network config do i choose in virtualbox(ie either NAT,NAT NETWORK,BRIDGED or INTERNAL).
Thank anybody to helpout here.

Linux proxyserver issue

setting up a linux proxy server in virtualbox.
i have a debian 7.6 as my server with 2 nics,1 nic using bridgenetworking and interfacing with my host(windows7) with an ip address 192.168.11.57 received via dhcp of virtualbox (i can ping 192.168.11.1(mywindows7 host default gateway) from the debian guest(server)). The internal facing nic ip 10.0.0.1 is connected to windows xp with xp's ip 10.0.0.2 using internal network of virtualbox.
i can browse the net from debian server. windowsxp and debian server can ping each other but windows xp(guest) cannot browse the net and it timesout when pinging host(192.168.11.57) and the host default gateway (192.168.11.1) ,can someone pls point out how to fix this problem?
thanks
