Linux Gaming

Hi,

I am using Fedora Core 1

I don't know about any Lan Games for Linux or infact about any good games

for Linux like Quake III or Unreal Tournament

Of course for windows u find a lot of them

Could anyone tell me about some good (and of course free) Lan Games for

Linux and where to find them

I connect to a network with almost all WIndows users so please tell me about Lan

games i can play with them

Can i use wine to play Big windows games as almost all the time it gives

me an error or leads me into the wine debug mode

And what is GAIM .

Somebody told me it helped in playing games Something like wine but i doubt it

Without games it kind of takes the fun out of Linux and that too when all my

Windows friends on the network are enjoying Half-Life And Counterstrike

1) GAIM does not have anything to do with gameing. it is a multi-protocol messaging client.

2) gameing in linux is a major dissappointment. gameing is still a major windows stronghold. even if you do find quake or UT for linux, expect to pay for it.

-- i suspect that the open source, or free mentality behind most linux users drives down the incentive of the game manufacturers to develop for the environment.

Still aren't there any good games i mean ok if not Lan games then simple

desktop games. Uptil now the only games i have played are those that come

bundled up with the fedora core distro CD's And i don't want to google on it

because i'm sure it would only lead to a lot of useless links and wastage of

time I just want to ask those people who actually have played some good

games

neways Thanx

Major games require lots of money to build, like your CS and UT and so forth. These cost money, but they do run in linux - either natively or through cedega - which also cost a little money. You can't get everything free and expect good developement unfortunately. Most good games are likely to cost a bit...

There is a free FPS game called Americas Army, it is the full game, and a 700MB download. the reason it is free is because it is made by the american army and they want you to play the game and then go recruit but it is still a pretty good game. Graphics aren't bad but I have found it needs a fairly decent PC to work properly, but if UT works you should be OK. If you have the speed and patience for a 700MB download then it is well worth a look.

and it is well worth registering with these people: http://www.aaotracker.com
