Linux from USB

Ok, I have a problem with my cd-rom, and I ruined to many cds already, burning and failing to lunch.

So, can anyone give me a step by step guide, how to make USB flash (2gb) bootable, and putting .iso file in it.

I understand that, iso file can just be unpacked with winrar, and putted in usb flash, but, how to make it bootable? What file system it will use?

P.S. I cant coppy msdos files, I dont have a floppy to make a system follpy...

See www.pendrivelinux.com for usb ...

Did you burn the iso images to CDs in the correct way as images? (you do not open them with anything)

Did you adjust the bios to boot from CD/DVD?

You get usb images for direct disk write too.

Hi,

You did look at the 'pendrivelinux' link that was provided?

A little work on your part will get you the 'flash Linux' you desire. I haven't looked at the pendrivelinux for awhile but it can be done.

And when you are done with all the download/installs, make sure your machine CAN boot from usb. Unfortunately some older motherboards do not support booting from usb devices, they only support the basic cd/dvd, HD, and Floppy. Hope this helps
