I suggest you install Lilo into the Master Book Record of your first hard disk drive.
Boot into Linux and login. You may need to edit /etc/lilo.conf (the Lilo configuration file).
Then open a console window and, at the command line, type:

make sure that in your lilo.conf file under univeral options it says,
boot=/dev/hda
this controls where lilo is installed when you do what mathieu suggested.

http://www.ipcop.org/1.3.0/en/instal...LO-errors.html
To repair the hard drive master boot record (mbr) just use a win 98 emerbency boot floppy and run:
fdisk /mbr
Win 98 should now boot normally. No worries, you can boot the 1st install cd to rescue mode and create a boot floppy or make repairs in case you screw something up. The command to create rescue boot floppy is mkbootdisk.
See man mkbootdisk for info.
Do you want the bootloader i.e. lilo installed on the mbr or just use a boot floppy disk to boot linux?
