linux firewalls


how do i know if my firewall is efficient. is there a good one i should be using?
i'm using the one that came in my distro.

There is, as far as I know, one standard firewall for linux: iptables. Everything else is a frontend to iptables.

I am also newbie. For linux, you should try iptables.
