Linux Firewall server question

Greetings everyone,

More than likely this will be a tricky question but I was curious if anyone can point me in a solid direction. What we would like to accomplish is setting up a Linux Firewall server that is integrated with Active Directory to control policies.

Basically we need to be able to get granular with the website restrictions based on departments defined in AD. I'm familiar with putting Linux on a domain but I have not yet used it as a firewall and I was curious if this is possible

Thanks

Dansguardian would be one option to look at..

IPCop with advanced Filter and CopFilter Add-ons is another option you might want to review.

I can't say for sure how granularly you can define the access rights and restrictions, but I'll leave that research up to you :)

zuasive:

Linux can be a good firewall and even a router. Just make sure you have complete control over the AD policies. Goodluck.

Awesome! Thanks for the info and opinions. I'll get to researching my options and will just have to jump in head first. Luckily I have full control of AD and creative freedom "especially if it saves money" so I think I'll be in great shape.
