Hi
I am having major difficulties,
Please can someone help me a.s.a.p....

this is what i have done so far...
I am able to run SYNAPTIC, only in the terminal... after im root, i type : synaptic
and it loads...
It is not in my system tools or any where, i can only access it thru the terminal.
And when i run synaptic.... it loads successfull, then when i have ticked what package i want to install, it runns the instalation etc etc etc, and when it finishes.. i dont see the things that i have downloaded any were...
is that normal?
if not,
can some one please show me the correct way, and if need to install synaptic can some one show me the steps please, im a very new person on linux and practically all i can do it to open the terminal and log in as root, as well as other little things such as move folders..
im still learning though,
but can someone please show me the steps to a successfull synaptic ?
Please...

This isn't RedmondSoft, dear. You won't find any apps that you installed in the System Tools. You'll have to invoke them by using either the terminal or the run utility.
The system keeps installed components in various places, for e.g. /usr/local.What you have described is exactly the way Linux functions. It isn't the same as in windoze.Synaptic is a gui frontend for the apt program. You need to have apt installed for it to install. After installing and configuring apt, you may install synaptic by issuing the command apt-get install synaptic.Try this if you still have a doubt, although there's no reason to since it is working in your system.
Newbies don't remain newbies forever.Read documentations of your distro.Read the man pages.gain knowledge coz that's how you're gonna progress in Linux.
