hi,
Is there any free driver source available for data fax modem in linux ???? plz reply . tks in advance.

what modem do you own? Lots of drivers for software modems are available at
www.linuxant.com or else at linmodems.org
if you own a (hayes compatible) hardware modem you don't need drivers at all.

i just want to read the source code fr modem driver. just nw i dnt hv modem , bt if there is any opensource driver fr fax data modem , thn i will buy tht one...

Under linux you won't need any drivers if you buy a hayes
compatible hardware modem.

Mine is an e-tech external hardware modem (www.e-tech.nu),
I just had to connect it to the serial port, it was recognized directly,
and it has worked perfectly ever since.

Don't bother with software modems unless you really have to!

tks fr replyin, do u know hw modem driver exactly works in the system. consider a software modem, i found one driver in linux source which is usb modem driver (../drivers/usb/acm.c) bt i m nt gettin the flow of the driver. do u kw wt is the exact flow between software modem driver and the serial port driver ???? which one will get called when user try to connect to ISP using a normal driver.???
