linux emulation within windows

I cant be bothered to restart my pc just to boot into linux. I'm using windows xp professional sp1 (NTFS) I know u can run linux within windows via emulation but i dont know how. also if u personally feel that this isn't the best way then feel free to suggest an alternative.

for that look out

cygwin , win4linux ,(linux emulator)

vmware (install linux over it)

There is also a thing called Cooperative Linux, which might help.

coLinux will run Debian or Gentoo (maybe more) distros under Windows.
