Linux Driver for old SuperMicro RAID Controller ?

Hello Everyone - This might be more appropriate for the hardware forum but thought I would start here. I have an old Supermicro Server 64Bit, 6 Drive Bay that's currently running Windows 2003. I really would prefer to run Linux on this box, but I can't seem to find a driver for the RAID Controller (AOC-SAT2-MV8). Does anyone have a recommendation on a flavor of Linux - I have no prefernce, I just looking for am OS alternative that will recognize the hard drives.

Any suggestions or recommendations would be appreciated. Thank you

Have you had a look here:
http://supermicro.com/products/acces...C-SAT2-MV8.cfm

?

I donīt know, if a modern linux distro contains the driver for that controller.

Hi, Yes. They no longer have the drivers on that page because the card is discontinued, just the latest BIOS and user manual. I did send them an email this evening but am doubtful they would provide one. Is there any site that identifies whether a particular distro would include drivers for a specific controller ? Thank you for the response !

I'd look to server distros to start. I have had Opensuse/Suse find a number of older cards. Centos/Scientific would maybe also.

Knoppix used to see some cards but I'd look still to server distro's.

Thanks Everyone ! In the event anyone has the same issue, SuperMicro tech support provided me the following: ftp://ftp.supermicro.com/driver/SATA...vell_H2/Linux/

Drivers are for older releases but definitely helpful. I'll probably be trying CENTOS - I'll update the thread once I know more. Thanks again
