Can someone tell me the what exactly is a LiveCD version of a product? I was able to boot into Centos 5.0 using a LiveCD, but would I install it on the harddrive of the target system? Can I actually setup a web proxy in this mode?
Confused as usual.

Thanks in advance

A LiveCD is a CD version of an Operating System that is just like the real thing (only slower). It does not install to your hard drive unless you tell it to. It's a good way to test out an OS.

If you want LiveCD then I can suggest you to take a look about Mepis.
