Linux crashes when mounting CD-ROMS
 I just installed Red Hat 7.2, and whenever I try to mount a CD-ROM, linux freezes solid. The mouse, the keyboard, everything freezes. It doesn't matter whether I'm mounting it in KDE, GNOME, or at a console, linux still freezes. I also tryed mounting a CD in single user mode, and the same thing happens. I'm sure that it is not a hardware problem, because CD-ROMS mounted fine in RH 7.0 and 7.1. Could someone please tell me what's wrong? I can't have an OS that won't read CDs!!
Thanks! Here's my system's main specs: Pentium III 650MHz 192MB RAM 14GB HD |
I have the almost the same problem... When I mount a cd or a dvd (I have a burner and a dvd player), whatever program I run once it is mounted, my mouse ONLY freezes and won't unfreeze no matter how long I wait. I can still navigate with the keyboard but get no more response from the mouse whatsoever. any ideas?
