linux configure shell script error

Hi all,
I am a newbie to Linux but not a newbie to programming. I am trying to install exVim for Fedora 12, and one of the add-ons is source-highlight. I downloaded the tarball and started to install. I keep getting the following error:

"configure: error: Could not link against !"

This is happening while the boost libraries are being validated. I have isolated it to the following line in the configure script:

"for libextension in 'ls $BOOSTLIBDIR/libboost_regex*.so* $BOOSTLIBDIR/libboost_regex*.a* 2>/dev/null | sed 's,.*/,,' | sed -e 's;^lib\(boost_regex.*\)\.so*$;\1;' -e 's;^lib\(boost_regex.*\)\.a*$;\1;'` ; do"

I am assuming it is testing the integrity of the libraries, but I don't know sed well enough to figure out what it is doing. Any help would be very appreciated.

Usually in your configure flags such as to specify lib locations and other options. Is it possible the libs are not in the place the scipt is looking?
