Linux Code Problem

A friend of mine is having trouble compiling a code which can be downloaded from:

http://nn.cs.utexas.edu/?dislex

The problem seems to be that this code uses imake which is an obsolete compilation method and therefore my friend is unable to compile it.

Is there any way to run this code, or can it be adapted such that it runs on a more updated compilation method?

Thank you in advance.

Well, if your friend read Install.txt, he would have seen this:

Building DISLEX
===============

If you have xmkmf, type "xmkmf", then type "make". Otherwise, edit
"Makefile.noimake", copy to "makefile", and say "make".
