Question Linux Client on an NT Domain

I would like to setup some linux workstations and allow users to logon to the NT domain with there domain User name and password just as they would from any other computer.

The network is a windows NT 4.0 Domain with windows servers and clients.
How can you get linux to logon to the NT domain?

I have seen samba allows a lot of things but how do you configure samba to act as a simple member of the domain?

Also the PDC is on another subnet and we have some BDC's on my local subnet.

Please do help I am setting this system up as a demo and there are over a thousand users but if it cant be part of the domain it will not have the same effect.
