Linux boot sequence

I know something about the Linux boot sequence. But I am not sure about when the device drivers get loaded during booting. While it takes place after the invocation of init? Who is in charge of that?

Can someone shed some light on this?

That would depend on the distro and how the kernel was compiled. I don't like modules and built all my drivers into the kernel so they are in the kernel when it is loaded. can you give more details about your situation?

Thanks buddy.

My question is like if the drivers are builtin to the kernel, then they get loaded while booting before the invocation of init. Is that right?

And what happens if only the necessary drivers are builtin to the kernel and when will the remaining driver modules get loaded? Whether the loading is initiated by the init process or not?

Take a look at this
