I can remember sitting through a firewalls class taught by a chubby Wizard that convinced me to get Linux. However he just talked and talked and talked about all sorts of acronyms and languages and information a NOVICE like me didn't know clue about, so . . .
when we did our lab-lecture at the local community college I did several google searches trying to find the best online reference source and just typed and typed away cutting and pasting definitions one by one through this source:

it is the best. The moral of the story is: if you are a "newbie" and find your computer literacy lacking --- don't be intimidated by the old school dorks who throw out a bunch of esoteric jargon and acronynms just because they have spent years accumulating degrees in computer science or whatever niches & notches they have under their belts that make them feel exalted above
novices who prefer Graphical User Interfaces and a good warm sandy beach surrounded by bronze women in bikinis
rather than some cold, gloomy, grey dampness in January in some cloistered cubicle in places such as Seattle or Helsinki or Anchorage.
How did I make that realization? Well it takes one to know one sometimes.
