Linux and windows xp

I have windows 7

Can I downlod Linux?

thanks

You may.

Just make sure you understand what you're getting into if you install Linux. It will replace your Win 7 install unless you set the computer up to boot both operating systems (called a dual-boot)

https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads this is one of the most popular virtual machine applications, and it is supported on Linux and Windows (and others). I'm not sure if you're asking how to download it -from- linux, or how to download it to install Linux onto, but the download links are on that page.

Virtual box is a good way to test different operating systems but if you're limited on ram, have a low level processor or graphics like my acer aspire 3620 you will not experience the true benefits of a true linx Os. On my acer the perormance is not there, but my amd machine is great.
In fact on my acer debian runs better than the windows that is installed. I rarely use wins.

If you want to download linux, just download it.
If you want to install in virtual box just save the file setup your machine and point virtual box to the image to load.

Netboot.me and boot.kernel.org is a way to boot over the internet to test.

Try live cd's to start also.

As above vmware and virtualbox are good choices.
