You canuse VirtualBox or similar to run a virtual Windows session if you want

You mean in the same machine.Say if I am on WinXp now can I operate Linux???

If you are booted into Linux, Windows is not active and vice versa. If they are on the same PC you may be able to read/write files on each OS, but you can only run one at a time. The virtual machine method as suggested above is the only way to run them both at the same time.

Try VMWare

Try VMware loaded on Windows. You can actually install Linux (or other OS) in a virtual window while running Windows.

You should have decent resources to do this (RAM, CPU, etc.)
Good luck

Or vice-versa. I run Linux natively, and Windows XP on VMWare.
