Linux and Vista home edition configuration on samba

I have vista home edition in my laptop.
I have to connect it with LINUX server.
I have used samba 3.0.x for that purpose.
VISTA does not support secpol.msc then i changed my registry value of LSA Lmcompitability Dword value to 1. But VISTA is not connecting with server. One thing that xp home edition is working perfectly. Please answer as quickly as possible.

What does that value do. Samba after version 2.2 support ntlmv2 authentication so there isn't any need to change vista's exclusive use of ntlmv2.

How is the Samba server configured. In particular, does it use the default "security = user" security model. If so then you won't have a problem. You can't use Vista home or XP home editions with "Security = Domain" or "Security = AD" models.

It works best if you create a user on Linux with the same username/password as your username/password in Vista and then use "smbpasswd" to add a Windows uid in /etc/samba/smbpasswd.

You need to provide more information on what problems you are having and how the Samba server is configured.
