(Linux after 3.x summary) Unics systems thesis

Hello,
im doing thesis on Unix systems history and right now Im searching for major changes between versions 3.x to 4.x and mabe some future 4+.
I know i can find everything here: http://kernelnewbies.org/LinuxVersions but its too damn long so if anyone could save me hours of time and point out the major changes i would be very happy!

First, there is a typo in your post's title.
Second, Unix is not Linux.
Third, Linux is at version 3.x not 4.x (though 4.0 will be the next release).
Fourth, each of the ChangeLogs begins with a Prominent features chapter that you can read.
Fifth, no, we are not going do your home work.

All this put aside, welcome to LinuxQuestions.

PS ability to find, read and summarize a lots of documents on a given topic is the least one can expect of a PhD student. But this is only my opinion, of course

Unics is not typo if you mean this and there is no need to be salty, but hey :), you can hide behind internet so why not...

I don't. I always identify myself using my first and last name regardless of the media.

so... you are doing a thesis on Unix...
did you know "Unix" refers to the Unix operating system, while "UNIX" refers to the OS family ?
no ?
how about doing a thesis on... icecream or something, since obviously this is not for you ?

before you start being smart
i'd be happy to give you my home address if you wanna tell me something in person
or better yet why dont you give me your name and the school you go to so i can email your teacher

This article provide accurate information on that matter, I think.

Bear in mind that strictly speaking Linux is a kernel, not a whole operating system. For instance it lacks the Shell & Utilities specified par POSIX, that are provided by other projects, as those under the GNU umbrella.

And then there is the history of Linux distributions...

If you are doing a thesis then I am sure that your adviser has provided guidelines for your creation to adhere too.

It's been a while since I've heard unics as representation for UNIX but you are coming from Academia so I am sure that it was intended.

Look at: http://www.unix.org/version2/whatsne..._whatsnew.html to get some useful information and allow for other links that can hopefully aid you.

http://www.unix.org/go/unix & http://www.unix.org/version3/online.html should open more doors to get pointers to linked information.

Plus: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Single_UNIX_Specification & 8 External links at that site will give more informational links.

You should be able to get more information via DuckDuckGo or Google by advanced search.

Please consider the following so that your posts are descriptive and are clear so we can really help you;

To other members in this thread
; Most Universities & colleges do have thesis guidelines & formatting to help composition of a Thesis. Research is allowed to be gathered from referenced sources that must be acknowledged/verified. That would include information garnered here from LQ members. Not a homework style question. A well written Thesis is a work of art when done right by the composer! Some thesis can become over-loaded therefore poor composition works.
Hope this helps.
Have fun & enjoy!
