Welcome to the "world" of Free Software and its communities!
It seems you installed SuSE Linux 9.1 (not "Linux 9.1"). If it's SuSE Linux: There should be an upgrade feature in YAST, which works as soon as you have a working internet connection under Linux (test e.g. with konqueror). If not: What distro do you use? (the Name that should be printed on the CD or package or appear when starting Linux). And what kind of DVD are you trying to watch? If it has a video file that needs the newest video codecs to be played, you'll need a new version of xine (or any other video player) as well. [Some WMV files are still difficult, though]. If internet doesn't work when you start Linux, and can't get it working, or have other questions, don't hesitate to ask. |
Welcome to the wonderful world of GNU/Linux. :)

many thanks for reply
it is suse linux its just a normal dvd cirque de soleil im new to this but i'll get the better of it |
the latest version of suse is 10.3
it can be downloaded from www.opensuse.com if you have a dvd burner then 9.1 should have k3b that will let you burn it if not then you will need to find somwhere to download and burn the image, (or buy a disk form the website) and to play any dvds you need to install support for libdvdcss2 (as suse cant legally ship with it in the US) see this thread for details of how to do this for suse 10.3 http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...engine-597476/ (opensuse 11.0 relieces soon though so stay tuned) |
