Smile Linux

I just installed Red Hat Linux Professional 8.0 in my VMWare, but I do not know how to start X Windows. I have tried to type "startx" on "RUN", but I get error message: Fatal Server error
Server already active for display 0
If this server is no longer running, remove tmp/.X0-lock
and start again

rh8 is dead and unsupported
support for it ended back in 05
go to the red hat website and install the current
RHEL 6.1
then BUY a license red hat is NOT FREE
you NEED a paid for license to install software on red hat

or
install one of the free rebuilds
CentOS 5.6
or
ScientificLinux 5.6 or 6.1
