You know, I only logged in to check the "Members Choice Awards", but how are you a system administrator with "no experience" ??

I'm not meaning to be rude or anything, but how did you get that job? Can you give me your employers number (JOKING) ?

Have you tried a web search ??

Also, CentOS 7.4 is the latest version out.

What to check depends almost entirely on which services you have running. What tasks have you put your machine to and which programs are carrying out those tasks?

Members please note that answers to technical questions should be directly related to the OP's question.

mkimani, hello and welcome to LQ.

While you can go from web page to web page for stuff like this, https://www.tecmint.com/60-commands-...administrator/ , the actual question can't be answered as noted. Your use is part of the question.

You can't really become fully trained in a day. (many folks work at this for many years) I'd suggest that you try to get your company to get you some training. Online, local courses or even boot camps.

Your goals are not only setting up monitoring and configuring but also using best practices.
