Talking Linux 3D Render

Hi All,
I have a body that does custom painting and airbrush, I have been helping him out with streamlining his processes, one of which is the pre image render for the customer, right now he does it all by hand, I showed him how to pull an image out of photoshop, apply it to a 3D object in bryce then bring it back into photoshop to place ontop of the actual object, thus saving a ton of time. Unfortunately Bryce is spendy, is there an Open Source Linux app that isn't incredibly in depth but will allow simple 3d texturing? I would like to get him onto Linux using Gimp, and whatever you all suggest...

Look at Blender. This is a full featured, free in all senses, 3D rendering program. And from the examples I have seen, you can do amazing things with it. Otherwise, I seem to recall Google Sketchup can do a good number of things, still no cost.

[Extra info] Sketchup is Mac and Windows only. Version 7 is free to download, the Pro version costs money.
Blender is Win, Mac, Linux, Irix and Solaris. May even be in your repositories.

Well, for 3D modeling search:

Blender will work, but it is rather difficult to use, and takes a while to learn, it may not be the best option, so see above.

Also try:
