linux 2.6.29 kernel gets locked up
Hi i was trying to run some test and i found that the ip address of my machine keeps changing due to the face the NFS times out and the linux 2.6.29 kernel version gets locked up. But in the case of other kernel versions, it just shows some error and continues without lock up.
Everytime this happens i had to reboot my machine via power cycle. So can any one throw some light on this. I am sure i am being very abstract here.. But please share info if u had faced similar problem of kernel getting locked up, becaus of which ip change. |

And you say it "shows some error"...how about actually TELLING US what the error is? What version/distro of Linux? On what hardware, in what kind of environment? "ifconfig -a" will show you the IP addresses...but are you talking about the one on your machine, or the one of the REMOTE machine? How is NFS being used in this picture? |
This probably doesn't help, but I abandoned 2.6.29 on my Lenny machine for a somewhat similar problem. In my case, the desktop (and thus probably the machine) was locking up randomly, requiring a hard boot. I went back to 2.6.28.8 and all is well.
