Linspire 5.0 or Suse 9.3 - which?

Hi all,

I am relatively new to Linux. I have tried out several distributions and have finally discovered that I'm not that much of a tinkerer, meaning that I want something that pretty much "just works" out of the box. I have Linspire 5.0 with CNR on my PC right now, and I do like it. But I am wondering how it compares to a properly set up Suse 9.3 Pro, especially in terms of ease of application installation, available applications, and performance (speed)? Does it have a Win4lin enabled kernel "out of the box"? I read a post on a forum somewhere saying that Suse can do anything that Linspire can do and do it faster. That sounds good to me, but I really don't want to shell out another hundred dollars without more input. So does anyone out there have some experience with both. I know Suse's pretty new, but I thought I would throw this out there and see what happens. Any helpful comments are appreciated.

Best Regards,

Dave

I believe that everyone's experiences are different. I've installed Linspire for my Grandparents and my parents. I run Ubuntu and SuSE. My Grandparents and parents now use SuSE. My opinion is that if you want to learn something, start with SuSE and then branch out. Really though, you need to do what you're most comfortable with...despite what I..or others recommend. Try them both and learn what you prefer!
