Linksys wifi adapter USB recognition with Backtrack 3

First I'd like to say thank you all for helping me, and for the wonderful forums.

Next I'd like to say that I have indeed checked the forums and have found many threads on usb problems but no answers seem to fit my problem.

I have loaded backtrack 3 final onto a USB flash storage device.

I boot my desktop and load up backtrack with no problem.

I then plug in the Linksys wireless USB adapter. The model is: WUSB54AG.
I have does a lot of research on this model and have found it is the optimal device in my price range to penetration test WiFi networks, and it is monitor/injection compatible.

My problem is: Backtrack does not recognize my device when I plug it in.
I don't see any pop ups, or other notifications of recognition.
The lights on the device light up just fine, and I believe my USB devices are all in working order.

I have typed lsusb in shell and this is the result (pertaining to my device, above and below as well):

Bus 2 Device 1: ID 0000:0000
Bus 1 Device 5: ID 13bl:000c Linksys
Bus 1 Device 3: ID 054c:0234 Sony Corp. MicroVault Flash Drive

The Sony flash drive is the device backtrack is booted from.

The other results do not pertain to the problem and I will not waste space posting them.

My question is: How can I get the computer to recognize my device? and what can I do in the future to have BackTrack recognize other devices I may need?

Thanks again for the help that you provide.

See here for the level of support:
http://linux-wless.passys.nl/query_p...ndname=Linksys

Depending on the version it will work with prism or ralink drivers.
