Generally the default install creates either 2 or 3 partitions (not counting swap). / and /boot almost always, then for uefi boot often /boot/efi. Unfortunately it seldom creates a /home partition thus leaving you open to data loss if a reinstall is needed.

I always use the custom partitioning so I have a separate /home to protect my data.
