Lines per screen?

:Pengy:

I have a question. I hope it is not too lame! :) I just installed Slackware 2.4.18 on my laptop. It seems like Linux is set up for about 50 lines of display, but my laptop can only display about 35 (those numbers are not exact, just guesses). I am not talking about Xwindows. Any ideas how to change the lines that my screen can display? I looked through the kernel, and couldn't find it there either....

HELP!!!!!!!!!

Thanks!

Hmmm... at the very beginning of the setup, you can choose the resolution. You can try to do it using kernel parameters. On www.tldp.org is a kernel parameters howto. If you still have got questions - no problem ;)

I looked on the website, and I did not see anything you mentioned. Just to clarify you are not talking about X are you??? I do not remember anywhere in the Slackware setup asking about resolution??? Not to say it doesn't exist, mind you, just that I do not remember it!!! :) Please help further if possible...

Thanks!

Sorry, I wasn't specific enough... well I'm not talking about x.... the howto is located here: http://www.tldp.org/HOWTO/BootPrompt-HOWTO.html
And for the installation prompt, It asked me at the very beginning what resolution I wanted and x was't running so it had to be the console ;)
The option I would use is vga=ask. Then you should be able to select an option. And if you find a good workable, add it to lilo.conf if you're using lilo and rerun lilo.

Thanks for your help Config. I found it in the lilo.conf file :)
