lineakd.conf for mplayer

I installed Suse Linux Enterprise 10 and installed lineakd on my Dell Inspiron 6000. I haved configured my keyboard with lineakd, so it recongizes when I press the media buttons. I opened ~/.lineakd/lineakd.conf and found where to map the buttons, But I'm having problems mapping the buttons to events such as, play, pause, etc. I found that I could use
Code:
amixer set Master 2+ && amixer set Headphone 2+
for the volume, but need to figure out how to make programs like mplayer and banshee work with the play/pause buttons and next buttons. The spacebar will pause and play in both programs, is there a way to tell lineakd to have the media button be the same as the spacebar?

Thanks for the help.

Steven.
