lindows problem


hey there. i just bought a new pc with lindows 3.0 pre installed on it, but i cant get it to run. i boot up, it loads lindows, then asks for a password. i can type in anything that i want, then his enter, and it gives me a command prompt and thats it. please i really need to use my new comp, any ideas? thanks.

Well, the command prompt means its running. Linux IS a command prompt.

If you want to get into The Graphical User Interface, typing:

startx


should work.

Post back if you have any problems.

Linux is case and space sensitive. So "startx" is different than "StArTX". So type it exactly the command I gave you.

I decided to install red hat 8, because i would rather use it, but my computer froze in the middle of installation and now durring the install i get a hard drive error, which says is probably a hardware problem. I tried formating the hard drive but it wont let me. Is my drive bad?
