This is my lilo.conf file.
The problem is lilo boots linux perfectly on hda1,
but is unable to do that for Windows XP on sda1.
Help needed.

try GRUB

This is not an answer to your posted question, but an alternative bootloader that works just as well and many prefer it for dual booting Linux and Windows.

Try GRUB. The Grand Unified Bootloader.

It has a good manual that explains how to create the necessary files and entries to dual boot using a chainloader for operating systems like Windows. If you have problems with GRUB, post a question.

Not sure its needed.

Try remarking "table = /dev/sda" don't think its needed and it think you have to make more modifications to the windows boot sector to use it. Its been a while since i worked with lilo but try remarking that line and then run /sbin/lilo and see if you get the "Added Windows" prompt.
