Thumbs down Lilo won't save to floppy

I've installed gentoo and I want my lilo.conf to be saved to floppy and not my mbr, But it doesn't work

Lilo.conf
Code:
boot=/dev/fd0
prompt
timeout=50
default=gentoo
vga=794
image=/boot/kernel-2.6.5-gentoo
label=gentoo
read-only
root=/dev/hdb3
other=/dev/hda1
label=windowsxp
Now when I /sbin/lilo I get this error

Code:
Fatal: filesystem would be destroyed by lilo bootsector: /dev/fd0

How can I get lilo.conf saved to floppy? How can I boot my gentoo via windows boot.ini? I don't want lilo or grub in my mbr.

Thanks in advance

I think lilo -C is used to select other locations such as a floppy disk.

I've successfully used these directions to dual boot linux and Win2k via the Windows boot loader. That said, I now use LILO because I find it easier to deal with.
