Lilo Still On Re-Partitioned HD
Hello All, And Thanks In Advance For Helping Me Out.
I Had Mandrake 9 Installed On a 13gb HD with two Partitions (1 Partition Linux, 1 Fat32). I Recently Used Partition Magic To Delete The Whole Linux Partition From That Hard Drive. And Resized The Partition To Dedicate The Whole 13 Gb's To The Fat32... Problem Now When I Boot To This Hard Drive (This is my slave hard drive) Lilo Boots Up. And I Was Confused Because I Deleted the Linux Partition, So Now Idk How To Get Rid Of This Lilo. I Also Formatted The Hard Drive Entirely To Fat32, And Still Boots To Lilo, Formatted To Ntfs, And Still. Is There A Way To Delete The Lilo To Keep it From Booting To It. Thanks Again. BTW I Left Mandrake 9 For Lycoris/Lx Lol. So No I Havent Given Up On Linux Lol. |
Sure, you just through that last line in there so we'd help ya ;)
Plop in a fat32 boot disk (win98 type preferred) and when you get to the a: prompt, type: fdisk /mbr And then reboot, take out the disk and see if it's gone. Other option: Throw in your Lycoris CD, get it a bash prompt, and type: lilo -u This removes lilo from the MBR. Cool |
Thanks Alot Man. I Actually Have My Win98 Install cd so I'ma just boot with that. Thanks Again.

?? It's a little bit strange, since if you format everything, the bootloader (LILO) would be removed from the MBR. For example, if you have C: and D:, C: for windows and D: for Linux, Then after formatting C: you are not able to boot into linux by harddisk.
Or, I am suspecting you have a "uncovered" partition which never was damaged during formating. If now you do not have anything on your harddisk, I suggest using windows boot disk and using "fdisk" to check the partition on your harddrive. |
Yea I'm Good Now. What MasterC Said Worked.
