Question Lilo rescue CD boots / read-only and hangs when samba wants to start

I have created a Linux rescue CD with the command mkrescue. The CD boots and offers my Linux and my Won7 installation of the hard disk to boot. So I select Linux und it starts to boot, but the root file system remauns read-only and I get a lot of error messages when the boot process tries to write something to disk. When I get to start the Samba subsystem the boot process stops and I do not get into the Login.

What can I do, that the boot from CD remounts the /-filesystem rw again without having a login prompt?

Is it possible to add an option to the boot:-prompt in lilo to mount it writeable? - Which option?

BTW, I have recogniced this behavior with another Linux boot-CD too. But here I was able to boot in single-user mode (init 1) instead of multiuser (init 5). What linux commands are necessary to create a lilo boot entry to get into single-user mode?

Hi,

I would check your 'initrd'. Please read 'Boot-up operation' in 'man initrd'.

Quote:
excerpt from 'man lilo.conf';
addappend=<string>
(22.6) The kernel parameters from the specified string, are concatenated to the parameter(s) from an append= specification (see below). The
string must be enclosed within double quotes. Usually, the previous append= will specify parameters common to all kernels by appearing in the
top, or global, section of the configuration file and addappend= will be used to add local parameter(s) to an individual image. Addappend=
may be used only once per "image=" section.
Code:
#sample stanza 'single' user mode
#New Linux bootable partition config begins
#
image=/boot/vmlinuz-custom-3.8.10
root=/dev/sda5
label=Single           #huge-3.8.10.x64 single mode
addappend ="single"
read-only
#New Linux bootable partition config ends
Your 'single' kernel parameter will be passed along with any 'append=' parameters in the global section of '/etc/lilo.conf'.

Or at boot time you can pass 'single' to the kernel by: 'linux single' where linux is the kernel to be used.
