LILO boot problems
I tried to compile a new kernel, but it failed. When I now try to boot my Debian woody i don't get the boot: line or the LILO boot menu. I did get the LILO boot menu once, but for some reason it won't reappear. I know i should have changed the stupid thing when i first managed to get in, but I'm just not that smart. Is there some button i can press to make the boot menu appear or am I basically screwed?

Press TAB as soon as you see the Lilo prompt appear, or otherwise press ALT or SHIFT beforehand, if Lilo isn't set to run interactively. This should give you a list of available kernels to boot from.

When you have access to a console, you can then edit your /etc/lilo.conf, and add the line

delay = 40
to signify the delay, in ms, before booting commences.
